You can transfer a distribution image file or a minimal boot media image file to USB media. Make sure that sufficient free space is available on the device. Around 4 GB is required for a distribution DVD image, around 700 MB for a distribution CD image, or around 10 MB for a minimal boot media image.

You must have a copy of the boot.iso file from a Fedora installation DVD, or installation CD-ROM#1, and you need a USB storage device formatted with the VFAT file system and around 16 MB of free space. The following procedure will not affect existing files on the USB storage device unless they have the same path names as the files that you copy onto it. To create USB boot media, perform the following commands as the root user:
This document explains how to "hybridize" an ISO 9660 filesystem (.iso file), such that it can be booted from optical media and disk storage devices such as USB flash drives. This process is achieved using toolsdeveloped by the Syslinux Project: =The_Syslinux_Project
An effective way to burn the ISO onto a disc or copy it to a USB is through a free Microsoft tool called Windows USB/DVD Download Tool. This program copies the contents of the ISO file to a disc or USB drive, which then becomes bootable. This method is useful if you wish to install Windows 11 on a clean computer or as part of a dual-boot setup. Microsoft no longer offers this utility on its website, but you can still find it at other sites, such as FileHippo(Opens in a new window) and Major Geeks(Opens in a new window).
An ISO image (.iso) is simply a CD-ROM image saved in ISO-9660 format. ISO images are mainly used as source files from which to create CDs. As an example, most distributions of Linux release ISO images of the installation CDs. These images are usually freely available online. Once you download the image, you can use software to recreate the physical installation media.
what does live usb key mean?. does this also make a backup copy of my windows 10 setup and all my files and applications i now have on my ssd for backup or what they call snapshot so if i lose everything i can boot up on the usb and if want to transfer all back to the ssd on my lenovo laptop i can and be back in business ?
This worked for me. After the setup runs it will look for an ubunto mirror to download the rest of the setup files over the internet.BTW, I got the code from point 10 from the netboot download in the file \ubuntu-installer\i386\boot-screens\txt.cfgYou might find more help here help.ubuntu.com
If you want vmlinuz and initrd from 5.11, you'll need a netboot ISO image made from the files in 5.11. If you can't download one, you'll need to make one (google, there should be a standard process how to make one for Ubuntu).
In Ubuntu's netboot ISO, the kernel modules are packaged as separate squashfs images on the ISO (casper/extras/modules.squashfs-generic and casper/extras/modules.squashfs-generic-hwe on ubuntu-20.04.3-live-server-amd64.iso). The modules.squashfs-generic contains modules for the packaged 5.4.0-81-generic kernel, while modules.squashfs-generic-hwe contains modules for the 5.11.0-27-generic HardWare Enablement kernel (!).
There are even corresponding hwe-vmlinuz and hwe-initrd files available in the casper directory of the ISO: if you use those instead of the regular vmlinuz and initrd files in your PXE boot configuration, you'll actually get kernel version 5.11.0-27-generic. It's just that the commonly distributed Ubuntu netboot instructions neglect to mention that this option exists.
An ISO image is a sector-by-sector copy of the Windows DVD stored as a single '.iso' file on your computer. You can then burn this ISO file onto another DVD, create a bootable USB drive, mount it as a drive letter in Windows, or extract its files using 7-Zip.
As you can see in the screenshot above, theSanDisk Flash Drive* has been selected and the disk identifier located next to Device is disk2. This might be a different on your Mac. Make a note of the disk number because we will use it in the following commands to create the bootable USB Flash Drive.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[300,250],'graspingtech_com-leader-1','ezslot_4',147,'0','0']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-graspingtech_com-leader-1-0');Step 2: Unmount VolumesSearch for Terminal with Spotlight and open it.Unmount all the volumes on the disk by running the following command (replace disk2 with the disk number of the USB Flash Drive connected to your Mac).sudo diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk2Step 3: Copy ISO to USB Flash DriveCopy the DVD ISO to USB Flash Drive with the following command (change /dev/rdisk2 to the path to your USB Flash drive discovered in Step 2).Note: the command below uses rdisk instead of disk because it makes the copy process quicker.sudo dd if=rhel-8.4-x86_64-dvd.iso of=/dev/rdisk2 bs=1mYou can check the progress by pressing CTRL-T as you can see in the example below:
Starts the installation in debug mode. A console will be opened at severalinstallation steps. This helps to debug the situation if something goes wrong. To exit a debug console, press CTRL-D. This option can be used to boot a livesystem with all basic tools available. You can use it, for example, torepair a degraded ZFS rpool or fix thebootloader for an existing Proxmox VE setup.
Defines the total hard disk size to be used. This is useful to save free spaceon the hard disk(s) for further partitioning (for example to create aswap-partition). hdsize is only honored for bootable disks, that is only thefirst disk or mirror for RAID0, RAID1 or RAID10, and all disks in RAID-Z[123].
Another option *might* be making another .iso file. Mount the file. Copy its filesystem to a directory. Remove some stuff you can live without. Make another .iso file using directions for making a bootable disk. Burn the .iso file to disk. 2ff7e9595c
